Welcome to the “new” 100.3 The Kross. If you are new to the station we want to thank you for listening. If you remember “The old Kross” let us take a moment to catch you up on what has been going on.

The Kross originally signed on in 2002 and stayed on the air as a full-time Christian rock station until April of 2007. The last two years the station has served as an extension of the 100.9 KXOJ format.

So, if you loved the old Kross you will be excited to see the familiar logo back and many of the same artists like Skillet, Pillar, Switchfoot, Disciple and others. However The Kross is no longer just a rock station. Now you will find a great blend of hit music, including hip-hop, pop, rap and all kinds of rock flavors. Today’s artists include TobyMac, Group 1 Crew, Relient K, DJ Maj, B. Reith, The Fray and more.

will the kross still play harder music like living sacrifice?

    Hi Steve,
We’re taking it slow this time. You can tell we’re a little more broad in styles already, but it’s not out of the question that we’ll begin adding some special shows as we discover our listeners tastes, etc. We’ll have some surveys we’ll ask people to participate in and we’ll try to get a feel for what the 2010 audience wants. Even though the name is familiar it really is a fresh start, so we recognize we will not be able to make everyone happy 100% of the time. We wanted to re-invent the station, not just bring it back, because well, the first time around did not work out so well did it? :-)

Will you still play music from local bands like in the past? I know this helped a lot of local bands get more well known.

  4. Admin says:

We may eventually have a local show. In the meantime, check out http://music.kxoj.com for a free community for local, original artists. We have over 100 artists there and it’s really grown lately…

So glad to hear you on the air again! Enjoying the new format. Some of the songs I never would have heard if it weren’t for you playing them. I support the idea of having a night time show that played local bands, as well as playing some harder music on specific programming times. To “re-invent” the station will be easier if you are interacting in the communities. Thanks again!!

I’ve been listening to the new Kross and it simply has the best mix of Christian music that I have heard in 30 years. While I listen to a wide variety of music that uplifts Jesus, my favorite has always been fringe music (rap, heavy metal, alternative, electronica, etc – basically anything that is outside of the boring, but safe, core that most radio stations play). Of course, music that is on the fringe is not good by virtue of being on the fringe any more than music that is in the core is bad by virtue of being in the core. I appreciate the talent for selecting fringe songs that are both musically well performed and lyrically Bibilical that I have heard on the new Kross. I loved the old Kross, but the new Kross is way better.

Looking forward to listening to Kross again. Like lots of others, hope there will be room for alot of Christian Rock. The original Kross played a big role in changing my life.

I’m so glad you are back! I just realized it yesterday! (a little slow, yes, but it was by accident.) I’ve listened since 02, and this station was a key player in my Christian walk. I used to think Christian rock, was, well… not good… Until I found your station on the web and realized how talented the artists are. I ended up listening to your station and all the other stations (104.5, 106.9, etc) I used to listen to just didn’t appeal to me anymore. God works in awesome ways… I remember thinking I’d never give up the music I liked (Metallica, Linkin Park, Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc etc) and now, it just doesn’t appeal to me at all. Occasionally, I’ll listen to the old stuff, but > 98% of the time, I listen to Christian music now.

This station was the tool that opened the door for me and for many others. It fills a much needed gap and reaches a group that KXOJ and AirOne don’t. I’m extremely thankful that you are back to providing us with some great music filled with the right message.

    Thank You.
